Flu vaccinations 2026 - 2027

Those patients who ONLY qualify for the flu vaccination (aged 65-74 and some under 65 with chronic conditions such as asthma), will be invited by text and sent a booking link that they can choose their own appointment without needing to call reception or send us an email.  The main weekend clinics will be on Sunday 11th and 18th October.  

Child flu invites will also be sent this way as stock arrives.

Patients who qualify for a COVID vaccination as well as flu will be invited by letter for both.  

COVID-19 vaccinations Autumn 2026

COVID vaccinations will be offered to over 75’s and some immunosuppressed patients.  The intention is that these patients will be invited by letter by the Health Board and they can have their flu at the same time (as in prior years).   Clinics will be held on Sunday 4th and 11th October.

RSV Vaccinations

The RSV vaccine helps protect against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a common virus that can cause serious respiratory illnesses such as pneumonia and bronchiolitis, especially in babies and older adults.

Who should get the RSV vaccine?

• Pregnant women (from 28 weeks onwards) to protect their babies after birth.
• Adults aged 75 and over.

Why is the RSV vaccine important? RSV can lead to severe breathing problems and may require hospital treatment. The vaccine helps reduce the risk of serious complications, ensuring better health and safety for you and your loved ones.

How to get the vaccine:

• If you're pregnant, you will be invited for your appointment by your midwife or the health board around your 28-week antenatal appointment.
• If you're aged 75 or over, you will be invited for your appointment at our practice via text message, phone, or letter. If you have not heard from us following your 75th birthday, please call Reception on 01244 550555 to schedule an appointment.

Pneumococcal Vaccination

The pneumococcal vaccine helps protect against some types of bacterial infections that can cause serious illnesses like:

• meningitis (an infection in the brain and spinal cord)
• sepsis (a life-threatening reaction to an infection)
• pneumonia (an infection in the lungs)

Who should get the Pneumococcal Vaccine?

• Adults aged 65 years and over
• Individuals in clinical risk groups (2-64y) 
  • Chronic respiratory, cardiac, renal or liver disease
  • Diabetes
  • Cochlear implants or cerebrospinal leaks
  • Immunosuppression
  • Asplenia or splenic dysfunction

Additionally, the pneumococcal vaccination if offered as part of the childhood immunisation schedule which our Practice Nurse Team will discuss with Parents during their child's immunisation appointments. 

Changes to eligibility:

From 1st October 2026, the pneumococcal vaccination programme will be expanded to include people experiencing homelessness. This will be offered through the Health Board or General Practice. Once we know more, we will update this message.
